We tested cooking Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs again using both High Pressure and Low Pressure to see which method gives the best results.

Maybe because our eggs are not farm fresh, and perhaps we have picky palates…

When we use High Pressure to cook hard boiled eggs in Instant Pot, though the eggs are beautifully cooked with egg whites & yolks fully set, the texture of the egg whites areslightly chalky.

Note: You may not notice the texture difference with fresh eggs, but it gets noticeable with older eggs.

First, place 1 cup (250 ml) of cold water and a trivet in the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker.

Then, place 6 – 8 large eggs on the steamer rack.

Close Instant Pot lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing position.

*Pro Tip #1: please ensure you’re using 1 cup (250 ml) of Cold Water. Some userslike to shorten the “coming up to pressure” time by using hot water or warm water – this will directly affect the final results of your Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs!!

*Pro Tip #2: ensure you’re not submerging the eggs in the water! This will also affect your perfect Instant Pot Eggs!

Pressure Cooking Methods: Pressure cook your eggs for

  1. High Pressure Method: 8 minutes + Quick Release OR
  2. Low Pressure Method: 12 minutes + Quick Release

*Quick Release: Once the pressure cooking cycle ends, immediately turn the Venting Knob to Venting Position to release the pressure.

Once the Floating Valve drops, open the lid carefully.
